Some classes use audio content from Spotify. If your class has Spotify content, you are required to have a Spotify account and download the Spotify player to listen to the playlists.
If you don't have a Spotify account, please create a free one:
- Visit Spotify's website (opens in new tab).
- Complete the form and press "Sign Up".
- Download the player.
- Sign in to the player to listen to the playlist.
If you already have a Spotify account, please launch the player and sign in. After logging in to Spotify, you may need to refresh this page before you start listening to the music.
Spotify FAQ
Do I need a Spotify account?
- If your course has Spotify content, you must have a Spotify account to listen to the playlists. Visit Spotify's website (opens in new tab) to create your account.
What if I already have a Spotify account?
- You may use your existing account. Please launch the player and sign in.
Should I use the downloadable desktop player or the web player?
- We strongly recommend the downloadable desktop player. This will provide the best user experience and allow you to select specific songs to play, and play them in sequential order.
- Depending on your user account settings, the web player may not be able to access the entire playlist as a unit. You should be able to access each individual song, but you will be taken to that song's album. You will need to return to the playlist to launch the next song.
Do I need a Premium account?
- No, all content may be accessed through a free Spotify account. If you already have, or chose to purchase a Premium Spotify account, it will provide additional functionality but it is not required for this course.
Can I use a Student Premium account?
- The Student Premium account provides the same additional functionality as the Premium account, but at a discounted rate for students. If you qualify for the Student Premium account, it may be used for this course but it is not required.
Can I use the mobile Spotify app?
- If you are accessing the Cognella Active Learning site via a mobile device, you will only see a 30-second preview of each song within the Cognella Active Learning site. You will have to launch the Spotify mobile app to listen to the entire song. Depending on your account and settings, the mobile app may require the use of shuffle play.
- Cognella recommends accessing all Active Learning content on a desktop or laptop computer for the best learning experience.
